The National Medical Commission (NMC) has published the MARB Guidelines for AY 2024-2025. These guidelines were approved by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) on October 30, 2023. The guidelines were published by the NMC on November 16, 2023.
The guidelines seek to standardise the process by which new medical colleges can file applications for recognition. It also seeks to regulate applications for increase in UG and PG seats. The guidelines also cover the process of assessment. This includes the selection of assessors and the conduct of assessment.
Furthermore, the MARB guidelines have been formulated based on the following revised regulations:
- Establishment of New Medical Institutions, Starting of New Medical Courses, Increase of Seats for Existing Courses & Assessment and Rating Regulations, 2023
- Guidelines for Under Graduate Courses under Establishment of New Medical Institutions, Starting of New Medical Courses, Increase of Seats for Existing Courses & Assessment and Rating Regulations, 2023
It is important to note that the MARB determines the appropriate method of assessment and inspection. Such methods shall include verification of documents, aadhar-based attendance register, verification of live video feed, photographs, Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) data, surprise physical assessment, etc
These MARB guidelines provide a reservoir of information in a single document on various processes to be undertaken by medical colleges. They will benefit medical colleges by providing concise information in a simplified manner.
