The Government of Tamil Nadu through gazette notification dated August 18, 2021 has revised the minimum wages for following industries:
- Appalam manufactory
- Bakeries and Biscuits Manufactory
- Employment in Folding Textile Goods
- Employment in Coir Manufactory
The dearness allowance shall be calculated every year on the first April, on the basis of the average of the indices for the preceding twelve months, that is, from January to December.
Where the nature of work is the same, no distinction in the payment of wages shall be made between the men and women employees. Wherever the existing wages are higher than the minimum wages fixed, the same shall be continued to be paid.
