The State Government of Gujarat vide on 12th February 2021 has notified the Draft Gujarat Factories (Second Amendment) Rules, 2021 to further amend the Gujarat Factories Rules, 1963 and has invited suggestions or objections from the stakeholders which shall be addressed to the Principal Secretary, Labour & Employment department, Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar within a period of 45 days.
The Amendment is brought under rule 64B which deals with the quality of personal protective equipment in which All personal equipment provided to workers shall be confirmed to the relevant Indian Standards, if any or in the absence of it, personal protective equipment shall be approved by the Chief Inspector of Factories.
Provided that the PPE’s not having relevant Indian Standards or not having approval from the Chief Inspector of Factories, shall be required to comply with EN or ANSI or ISO, as the case may be, modified from time to time till the relevant Indian Standard is made available.”
