The Government of Jammu & Kashmir, under the General Administration Department, has declared paid holidays for the upcoming general elections to the Legislative Assembly in 2024. As per the Election Commission of India’s directive dated 16 August 2024, the holidays will be observed on 18th September, 25th September, and 1st October 2024, according to the phase-wise schedule of the elections. This notification was published on 23/08/2024.
These holidays apply to all individuals employed in businesses, trades, industrial undertakings, or other establishments. No wage deductions will be made, and daily wage or casual workers are also entitled to receive both the holiday and their wages. Employers who violate this mandate may be fined up to five hundred rupees.
