Updated List of Approved Solar PV Modules Released

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has released a revised list of approved solar photovoltaic (PV) modules under the Approved Models and Manufacturers of Solar Photovoltaic Modules (Requirement for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2019 (ALMM Order). This update, Revision XXXIV, comes into effect immediately. This office memorandum was issued on January 23, 2025.

Key Points of the Office Memorandum

The revised list prioritizes solar PV modules that meet minimum efficiency standards set by MNRE.

  1. Utility/Grid Scale Power Plants: 20.0% minimum efficiency for crystalline silicon technology, 19.00% for Cadmium Telluride thin film technology.
  2. Rooftop and Solar Pumping: 19.5% minimum efficiency for crystalline silicon technology, 18.50% for Cadmium Telluride thin film technology.
  3. Solar Lighting: 19.0% minimum efficiency for crystalline silicon technology, 18.00% for Cadmium Telluride thin film technology.

The previous update to List I occurred on January 6, 2025. The revised list details all approved manufacturers and models.

Moreover, the ALMM enlistment remains valid only with a valid Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) registration. This list includes details regarding specific BIS registrations (R. No.) for each manufacturer.

In conclusion, this update ensures that solar power projects in India utilize high-efficiency solar PV modules, promoting cleaner and more productive solar energy generation. The requirement for BIS registration guarantees quality and safety standards for these modules.
