The University Grant Commission vide its notification dated 30th March 2022 has requested all the universities and its affiliated/constituent colleges/ institutions to comply with the recommendations of the NITI Aayog Advisory Committee. The committee report lays down a set of 14 recommendations for reforms. Some of these are pertaining to higher education.
The Advisory Committee recommends to develop India Centric Solutions. It has been recommended that the history of human settlements in the Indian subcontinent be taught to all young planners in a manner that can help them draw learning about planning and management of ancient and medieval human settlements in India.
Further the Committee also recommends ‘more exposure ln Curricula on Economics’ and a deeper focus on the subject matter of economics to be brought in by the educational institutions while educating the future planners.
