UGC issues Guidelines for Optimum Utilisation of the Resources Available in Central Universities/ Higher Educational Institutions

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a letter to the Vice-Chancellors of all Universities drawing their attention to the publication of its “Guidelines for Optimum Utilisation of the Resources Available in Central Universities/ Higher Educational Institutions”. The letter was issued on 11th January, 2023.

The UGC states that it has supported Central Universities and Higher Educational Institutions (HEI)  in setting up of infrastructural facilities and providing them resource to qualitatively improve research and development activities.

UGC suggests that these infrastructures should be shared with other HEIs for optimum usage of resources. They should do so by charging a nominal amount for such usage. This additional revenue will aid the institutions to maintain the upkeep of their infrastructure. It will also benefit the HEIs who do not possess such infrastructure such as libraries, laboratories, equipment, etc.

Hence the UGC has published the abovestated guidelines and have requested all HEIs to implements the same so as to benefit HG/ PG students and researchers.
