UGC invites feedback/comments from public on revised draft National Curricular Framework and Guidelines for “Fostering Social Responsibility & Community Engagement in Higher Education Institutions in India 2.0.

The University Grant Commission on 28th February 2022 has revised the draft National Curriculum Framework and Guidelines on Fostering Social Responsibility & Community Engagement in Higher Education Institutions in India 2.0 and has invited feedback/suggestions from stakeholders including teachers, students, researchers and those involved in the related field on the UGC’s University Activity Monitoring Portal (UAMP) at https://uamp.ugc.ac.in/ latest by 15th March, 2022.

The framework has been revised to include key recommendations of NEP (National education policy) 2020. The experiences of the Covid pandemic and responses by students, faculty and staff of HEIs during the same have been incorporated in this revision.

UGC has divided the revised draft guidelines according to NEP 2020 into four subsections mainly:

  • Recommended curriculum for a new compulsory course in community engagement for all UG and PG students in HEIs.
  • Suggestions for modifying existing courses and curriculum to align with national framework outlined above
  • Offering new audit courses for promoting community engagement and social responsibility
  • Undertaking research in partnership with local community
