The Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has set the target to plant 80 crore saplings by September 2024 and 140 crore saplings by March 2025. Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) have been actively participating in this campaign, with over 89,000 saplings already planted by educational institutions and reported on the https://merilife.nic.inportal.
To further boost this effort, UGC has mandated HEIs to organize a one-day special plantation drive during which all institutions are requested to participate actively and report their plantation activities on the Meri LiFE portal (https://merilife.nic.in/login). The guidelines for uploading details of the plantation drive, along with videos and photographs, are available on the portal https://merilife.nic.in.
