Tripura Pollution Control Board issues directions for compliance of Environmental Norms for Marriage Palaces/Restaurants/hotels/Motels etc.

The Tripura State Pollution Control Board in its order dated 8th January 2020, directs all places like auditoriums, restaurants, hotels, motels, banquets etc. to comply with the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 for protection of the environment .

Based on the Directions of the National Green Tribunal, every marriage places/restaurants/hotels etc shall have to abide by the environmental norms of noise pollution, water and air pollution. Solid waste management, installation of CCTV Cameras, sewage/effluent treatment, restriction of congregation of person, extraction of groundwater, groundwater recharging, prevention of illegal parking and encroachments etc.

Further, violation of the environmental norms, will attract suitable penalty and environmental compensation cost on the offenders as per the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
