The Labour Commissioner of Orissa on 22nd July, 2020, notified that a special allowance called Variable Dearness Allowance at the rate of Rs. 5.40 per day shall be paid to un-skilled, skilled and highly skilled categories of employees. The benefit has been extended to employees in 89 schedules of employment as is specified in the Notification.
This allowance will be in addition to the minimum rate of wages notified vide Labour & ESI Department Notification dated 30th October, 2018.
This revision of wages will be effective from 1st April, 2020 and results in the following minimum rate of wages:
- Un-skilled workers: RS. 303.40
- Semi-skilled workers: Rs. 343.40
- Skilled workers: Rs. 393.40
- Highly skilled workers: Rs. 453.40
