The Maharashtra PCB directs Healthcare Establishments to implement the guidelines for handling, utilizing and handing over Biomedical Waste

The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board vide circular dated 19.01.2021 has directed Healthcare Establishments(HCE) to implement the guidelines for handling, utilizing and handing over Biomedical Waste(BMW). The PCB through its circular dated 11.03.2019 has issued guidelines for handling BMW and guidelines for handing over BMW like ascetic fluid, placenta etc. through letter dated 25.03.2019.

• The circular also provides that HCEs shall hand over BMW like ascetic fluid, placenta etc. to pharmaceutical industry.
• HCEs shall hand over other waste to authorized user having valid consent of operate from PCB.
• The HCE shall strictly follow the procedure for packaging and transportation of BMW
