The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution has issued the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) (Amendment) Rules, 2022. These Rules were issued on 29th December, 2022 and will be effective from that same date. They seek to further amend the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.
The notification states that the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) (Amendment) Rules 2022 will come into force from 1st February, 2023. It may be recalled that previously, these rules were set to come into force on 1st January, 2023. This date has now been extended to 1st February, 2023.
