The Karnataka Compulsory Service by Candidates Completed Medical Courses (Amendment) Act, 2023

The Karnataka Government issued notification dated 30th January, 2024, for amendment related to the Karnataka Compulsory Service by Candidates Completed Medical Courses Act, 2012. The notification outlines changes relating to the compulsory service by candidates who have completed medical courses, specifying exemptions and the repeal and savings clause. 

The amendments are, primarily related to the compulsory rural service, exemptions for candidates selected for government service, and changes in the prescribed compensation. Additionally, it includes the repeal of the Karnataka Compulsory Service by Candidates Completed Medical Courses (Amendment) Ordinance, 2023, and the corresponding savings clause. 

In regards to compulsory rural service the words “in the existing vacancies as specified by the State Government” after the phrase “compulsory rural service” and  “one year compulsory service.” Along with it a proviso has been added , stating that candidates selected for regular Central or State Government service shall be exempted.

Additionally, the document repeals the Karnataka Compulsory Service by Candidates Completed Medical Courses (Amendment) Ordinance, 2023 and specifies that anything done or taken under the principal Act, as amended by the new amendments, shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the amended Act.
