The Indian Boiler (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2020

The Central Boilers Board vide notification dated 11th September, 2020, has issued the Indian Boiler (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2020. The amendment modifies the procedure for recognition as Competent Authority, Inspecting Authority, Well-known Material Testing Laboratory, Well-known Steel Maker, Well-known Foundry/Forge, Well-known Tube/Pipe Maker and Well-known Remnant Life Assessment Organisation.

An application for recognition shall be made by a firm to the Secretary, Central Boilers Board, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The Evaluation Committee or the Appraisal Committee shall submit a report to Member-Secretary, Central Boiler Board recommending either to grant or refuse recognition. On examining the report of the Evaluation Committee or the Appraisal Committee, as the case may be, the Member-Secretary, Central Boilers Board may issue a certificate of recognition. Any firm not satisfied with the reasons given by the Evaluation Committee or the Appraisal Committee for refusing to accord recognition may file an appeal in writing to the Chairperson, Central Boilers Board.
