The State Government of Tamil Nadu on 8th April 2021 has imposed new restrictions to tackle the steady increase in COVID-19 cases and it has been framed without affecting the livelihoods of the general public.
Highlights from the restricitons:
- Festivals and religious congregations are prohibited.
- Fruits and vegetable retail outlets in wholesale markets in all the districts to remain closed.
- Only 50 percent customers will be allowed at a time in vegetable shops, provision shops, shopping malls and big showrooms including jewellery and textile showrooms. These will be allowed to function till 11 pm.
- Restaurants, tea shops with seating will be allowed to function only with 50% capacity at any point in time till 11 p.m. Restaurants will be allowed to provide parcel service till 11 p.m.
- Recreation clubs, entertainment and amusement parks, zoological parks, museums, cinema theatres in multiplex and shopping malls will be allowed to function with 50 percent seating capacity.
The Government shall constitute a monitoring committee to implement these restrictions and ground-level monitoring committees will be formed to assess the ground situation. Such teams will be formed across all the districts.
