The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare vide its notification dated 4th December 2020 has published the Food Safety and Standards (Fortification of Foods) Amendment Regulations, 2020 inviting objections or suggestions on the regulation which shall be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, Food and Drug Administration Bhawan, Kotla Road, New Dlehi-110002, or may be sent at regulation@fssai.gov.in.
The Amendment is brought under regulation 4 of Food Safety and Standards (Fortification of Foods) Regulations, 2018 which deals with the Compliance with Standards on Micronutrient Content in Fortified Foods in which the following sub-regulation shall been inserted
The packaged refined edible vegetable oil weighing not more than 15 kilograms shall be fortified with Vitamin A and Vitamin D and shall comply with the level specified in clause (2) of Schedule –I . and the Packaged Toned, double toned, skimmed milk or standardized milk shall be fortified with Vitamin A and Vitamin D and shall comply with the level specified in clause (3) of Schedule –I.
