The Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Tenth Amendment Regulations, 2020

FSSAI vide notification dated 29.12.2020 has published the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Tenth Amendment Regulations, 2020. The Food Business Operators shall comply with all the provisions of these regulations by 1st July, 2021. The amendment provides that Fruit and vegetable Juice Products shall maintain the essential physical, chemical, organoleptic and nutritional characteristics of the fruit or vegetable from which it comes.

The product shall also have the characteristic color, aroma and flavor of the fruit or vegetable from which it has been prepared taking into consideration the addition of permitted ingredients. The amendment also prescribes the percentage of Total Soluble Solids and Acidity each fruit juice shall contain.
