The Environment (Protection) Amendment Draft Rules, 2022.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on 27th June 2022, has notified the Environment (Protection) Amendment Draft Rules, 2022 and has invited objections or suggestions from the public which shall be addressed to the Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Indira Paryavaran Bhawan, Jor Bagh Road, New Delhi-110003, or shall be sent to the e-mail address: mscb.cpcb@nic.in and sonu.singh@gov.in within 60 days.

Through this amendment, the standards for emission or discharge of environmental pollutants for boilers under schedule 1 has been substituted as follows:

Boilers of 10 TPH or more steam generation capacity shall install a continuous emission monitoring system (CEMS) at process stacks for PM and SO2 as per CPCB’s guidelines.

These standards are for industrial boilers using coal/lignite, pet coke, bagasse/agro-fuels, and FO/LDO/LSHS, and boilers of bagasse/agro-fuels based power plants.
