The Government of Chhattisgarh has notified the Chhattisgarh Gambling Prohibition Act, 2022. It was notified on 23rd March, 2023 and comes into force from that date.
The Act intends to curb the extraction of illegal money through gambling and satta. It also seeks to prevent gambling, including online gambling, as a social evil. Furthermore the Act states that gambling brings about financial troubles to families of those involved.
The Act enumerates the penalties leviable to all those persons involved in gambling, including online gambling within the state of Chhattisgarh.
