The Central Motor Vehicles ( Draft Amendment) Rules, 2022.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on 15th February 2022 has notified the Central Motor Vehicles (Draft Amendment) Rules, 2022 and has invited objections and suggestions from the public which shall be addressed to the Joint Secretary (MVL, Transport & Toll), Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Transport Bhawan, Parliament Street, New Delhi-110 001 or on the email: comments-morth@gov.in within 30 days.

The Amendment is brought under rule 129 which deals with transportation of goods of dangerous or hazardous nature to human life in which a new sub-clause (v) has been instered as follows:

Every owner of a goods carriage transporting any dangerous or hazardous goods shall, in addition to complying with the provisions of any law for the time being in force in relation to any category of dangerous or hazardous goods, comply with the following conditions, namely:

“every goods carriage carrying any dangerous or hazardous goods shall be equipped with or fitted with a vehicle tracking system device as per AIS 140.”
