The Bureau of Energy Efficiency on 27th June 2022, has notified the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (Particulars and Manner of their Display on Labels of Deep Freezers) Draft Regulations, 2022 and has invited Objections or suggestions from the public if any, shall be addressed to the Director General of Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, 4th Floor, Sewa Bhawan, R.K.Puram, Sector-1, New Delhi-110 066 within 30 days.
The Draft regulation has notified the following particulars which shall be displayed on the label of every deep freezers.
- star level
- logo of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency
- name of appliance, name of manufacturer or importer and brand;
- model/year of manufacturing or import;
- type of deep freezer (hard top / glass top chest freezer);
- storage volume, electricity consumption (units per year in kWh) etc.
The label containing all the above particulars shall be displayed on every deep freezer within a period of six months from the date of coming into force of these regulations. Every permittee or trader or seller shall ensure that the deep freezer put on sale shall display revised star level and revised label period synchronizing with the revised energy consumption standards and the manufacturing year of the deep freezer shall also be in synchronization with such revised energy consumption standards, and shall not produce deep freezer with the previous energy consumption standards.
No star label shall be affixed on a deep freezer without obtaining the prior permission of the Bureau. Every application of the permittee shall be accompanied by an application fee of two thousand rupees per model, payable by any acceptable electronic mode of payment and the documents specified in Form II.
