The Central Government through order dated 23rd August, 2021 has suspended the operation of sections 12 to 16, section 39 and section 40 of the Tea Act, 1953 until further order. The provisions that restricted and regulated extension of tea cultivation is thereby suspended.
The provision that allowed the owner of a tea estate to establish nurseries on land not previously planted with tea for the growing of plants intended for in filling or supplying vacancies or for replanting land planted with tea within the area of the estate is also suspended.
