NMC Creates E-Compendium for 2020-2023
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has published E-Compendiums for 2020-2023. This compendium was notified on July 1, 2024. The NMC seeks to promote ease of access of all information relevant to various stakeholders in a consolidated manner to promote an easier understanding of relevant rules and regulations.
Clarification Issued for Internship Eligibility of Foreign Medical Graduates
The NMC has clarified that students who passed an exam equivalent to India’s MBBS degree are eligible for a one-year internship, even if they took online classes in lieu of some physical classes, provided they subsequently completed sufficient compensatory onsite classes.
NMC Issues Deadline for Medical PG Broad Specialty 2021 Batch Examinations
NMC has issued a reminder all universities to follow the established schedule for PG Broad Specialty Courses for Academic Year 2021. This includes completing the academic curriculum and conducting exams for PG broad specialty degree students admitted in 2021 by December 31, 2024.
Advance Declaration of Holidays To Medical Colleges in AEBAS Module
Medical colleges are now mandated to input details of gazetted holidays and local administrative holidays in advance for the entire calendar year/semester. Retroactive updates to AEBAS data for holidays, leaves, and vacations are strictly prohibited. Any failure to comply with these guidelines may result in serious action against the medical college.
India Combats Antibiotic Resistance with National Action Plan
The use of antimicrobials has grown manifold in the recent years. Easy access of antimicrobials and the haste to start them in any suspected infective aetiology is primarily responsible of their misuse, and in turn lead to increased anti-microbial resistance (AMR). Identification of the clinical problem and making a differential diagnosis at the bed side will help in deciding of whether to start or not to start any antimicrobial.
Medical College Details Now Publicly Available on NMC Website
The Annual Declaration tab provides comprehensive details of all medical colleges including details on student admission, hospital, clinical load, births and deaths recorded, faculties, Operation Theatres (OTs) and community medicine.
NMC Makes ABHA ID Mandatory for Patient Registration in Medical Colleges
The NMC has stressed that ABHA ID registration is crucial for NMC’s decision on the prospects of a college and its assessment for the academic year 2025-26 onwards. The NMC also clarifies that no patient will be denied treatment due to lack of an ABHA ID.
Clarification on Appeal Fees for National Medical Commission (NMC) Appeals
The NMC has now clarified that the previously announced appeal fees are exclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST). Therefore, all appellants are required to pay the appeal fee plus GST at applicable rates.
National Medical Commission Seeks Input on Medical Student Well-being
The National Task Force established by NMC’s Anti-Ragging Cell will hold a meeting to gather input from students, parents, and student associations. Those interested in participating can register through a Google Form by May 25, 2024.
New Appeal Process and Fees Announced by National Medical Commission
The NMC has introduced a uniform fee system for presenting appeals to its against decisions of any boards. Additionally, all appeals must now be submitted electronically via email to ‘nmc_appeal@nmc.org.in’ addressed to “Secretary, NMC”.
