NMC Withdraws Competency Based Medical Education Curriculum (CBME) Guidelines, 2024
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a circular withdrawing and canceling the Competency Based Medical Education Curriculum (CBME) Guidelines, 2024, which were published on August 31, 2024. This withdrawal notification was issued on September 5, 2024.
NMC Backtracks on College of Physicians and Surgeons Course Discontinuation
The Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has withdrawn its previous notice regarding the discontinuation of courses offered by the College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPS), Mumbai. This decision follows the Bombay High Court’s order of August 22, 2024, which stayed the PGMEB’s earlier decision.
New Competency Based Medical Education Curriculum (CBME) Guidelines, 2024

NMC Revises Performance Bank Guarantee Requirements for Medical Colleges
These revised rates and tenures are applicable for both performance bank guarantees and electronic bank guarantees (e-PBGs). Medical colleges are required to comply with these changes when submitting applications. These changes will take effect from the academic year 2025-26.
Process For Registration On National Medical Register (NMR) Portal
The NMR portal offers a user-friendly online process for doctors to register. Medical colleges, institutions, and State Medical Councils are integrated with the NMR portal for seamless data sharing. Existing MBBS doctors registered with the Indian Medical Register (IMR) need to re-register on the NMR portal.
Discontinuation Of Courses Under College of Physicians & Surgeons (CPS), Mumbai
PGMEB has decided to discontinue all courses offered under the umbrella of CPS, Mumbai, with immediate effect. This decision applies to both to medical institutions and hospitals currently running CPS courses, as well as students who are in the process of taking admissions to the courses run by CPS.
PGMEB Extends Deadline for PG Broad Specialty Course 2021 Examinations
PGMEB has decided to grant a further extension for the completion of PG Broad Specialty Course 2021 examinations up till January 31, 2025.
NMC Calls For Compliance With Minimum Standard Requirements for Post Graduate Courses
Every medical college shall have prescribed number of cameras at the prescribed locations of cameras with Close Circuit Cameras, as prescribed by the National Medical Commission. Every college /institute shall have its own website which shall display the details of Departments with available facilities, faculty with contact details, PG courses along with number of seats, details of the admitted students and number of OPD, IPD and Surgeries etc. for each Department separately.
NMC Stresses on Strict Compliance With Orders on Sexual Harassment
The NHRC orders pertain to the implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013. Information regarding the constitution and composition of the ICCs/LCs/ICs, details of the e-mail IDs and contact numbers of the designated person(s), the procedure prescribed for submitting an online complaint, as also the relevant rules, regulations and internal policies are made readily available on the website of the concerned Authority/ Functionary/ Organisation/ Institution/ Body, as the case may be.
