NMC Warns Against Attendance Fraud in Medical Colleges

The NMC has observed instances where faculty members have been marking attendance using fake fingerprints. The NMC emphasizes that any such practice is viewed as a serious offense. Any violation of this mandate will result in strict action against the concerned medical institution.

Medical Colleges Mandated To Display Faculty Information On Websites

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a directive requiring all medical colleges and institutions to update their faculty details on their respective websites. These details must be uploaded department-wise. The information should include faculty names, recent photographs, qualifications, designations, and registration numbers with the respective State Medical Council.

NMC Receives Certificate Of Appreciation For Its GST Compliance

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has been awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the GST authorities for its outstanding performance and adherence to GST regulations during the financial year 2023-24. The NMC has taken this opportunity to remind the medical colleges, institutions, and the medical fraternity to include the applicable GST rate (currently 18%) when making fee payments to the NMC.

Body Donation Encouraged As An Alternative To Organ Donation

The Director General of Health Services (DGHS) has issued a letter encouraging hospitals across India to promote body donation as an alternative when organ donation is not feasible. This initiative aims to address the shortage of human cadavers for medical education and research.

NMC Warns Against Misleading Media Reports

The NMC has observed that some media outlets have falsely claimed that the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has finalized approvals on 113 applications for establishing new medical colleges. The NMC has only listed applications with finalized MARB decisions. These decisions can be either approval or rejection.

NMC To Prioritize Appeals For Broad Specialty PG Medical Courses

Appeals for Broad Specialty PG courses will be heard first and appeals for Super Specialty PG courses will be taken up in August 2024. However, colleges intending to appeal against MARB’s decision on PG courses are urged to submit their appeals within the stipulated timeframe.

Indian Organ Donation Day To Be Celebrated On August 3, 2024

The Government of India is launching a major campaign, “Angdaan Jan Jagrukta Abhiyaan” (Mass Awareness Campaign on Organ Donation), to promote organ donation and bridge the gap between those needing transplants and available donors. All Central Government Ministries, hospitals, and medical colleges (both public and private) are urged to organize activities during the July campaign month and on August 3rd, 2024.

Advance Declaration of Holidays To Medical Colleges in AEBAS Module

Medical colleges are now mandated to input details of gazetted holidays and local administrative holidays in advance for the entire calendar year/semester. Retroactive updates to AEBAS data for holidays, leaves, and vacations are strictly prohibited. Any failure to comply with these guidelines may result in serious action against the medical college.
