FSSAI to monitor Sale of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables in Markets

To combat the menace of pesticide overuse during the pre-marketing treatment of fruits and vegetables, authorities are now taking proactive steps to address the situation. A request has been made to the respective States and Union Territories (UTs) to maintain strict vigilance on Food Business Operators (FBOs) involved in manufacturing, repacking, and selling fresh, surface-treated, and minimally processed fruits & vegetables.

With a focus on ensuring food safety and quality in India’s thriving beverage industry, the newly approved manual will serve as a vital resource for laboratories across the country. By providing standardized testing methods for beverages like tea, coffee, and chicory, the FSSAI aims to raise the bar for the sector’s overall safety and compliance standards.

G20 Global Food Regulators Summit

Inaugurating the summit’s preparations the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare unveiled the summit’s logo, accompanied by the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare. The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare highlighted the significance of the summit, stating, “This is the first time the summit is being held outside Rome, Italy. The Global Food Regulators Summit will bring focus on the crucial aspect of food safety, which needs as much attention as food security.”
