Government Launches Bharat Chana Dal Phase II to Boost Supplies
The second phase of the Bharat Chana Dal initiative aims to release 3 lakh tons of chana stock from the price stabilization buffer to increase the availability of chana dal and chana whole in the market. Chana dal will be retailed at Rs. 70 per kg, and chana whole at Rs. 58 per kg. The government has also expanded the Bharat brand to include moong and masur dals.
NPPA Revises Ceiling Prices for Chloroquine
NPPA has further increased the ceiling price of 1 Tablet of Chloroquine 150 mg from Rs. 1.17 to Rs. 1.33. The new prices take into account a minimal increase based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI).
India Expands Export Routes for Essential Commodities to Maldives
The Indian government has announced the inclusion of Kandla and Vishakhapatnam seaports as additional export points for essential commodities to the Maldives. This decision aims to facilitate smoother trade between the two nations. These ports were notified on August 1, 2024.
Government Fixes Maximum Sale Price for Bt. Cotton Seed Packets for FY 2024-25
According to the notification, the maximum sale price of Bt. cotton seed packets for the entire country will be INR 635 for BG-I and INR 864 for BG-II. These prices are applicable to 475-gram RIB seed packets containing a minimum of 5 percent and a maximum of 10 percent non-Bt. cotton seed.
Revised Wheat Stock Limits for Traders/ Wholesalers, Retailers, Big Chain Retailers and Processors
Entities exceeding the prescribed limits are mandated to bring their stocks within the limits within 30 days of the notification. Central and State Government officials will closely monitor and enforce these stock limits to prevent any artificial scarcity of wheat.
