Deadline Extended for Comments On Draft Electricity Tariff Regulations Amendment
The CERC had previously requested that comments on these draft regulations be furnished by September 6, 2024. By the present notice the CERC has extended this deadline till September 27, 2024. Through the draft regulations, the CERC seeks to amend the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Terms and Conditions of Tariff) Regulations, 2024 issued on March 15, 2024.
Electricity Deviation Settlement Mechanism Regulations, 2024
The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Deviation Settlement Mechanism and Related Matters) Regulations, 2024, aim to establish a commercial mechanism for penalizing grid users who deviate from their scheduled electricity consumption or generation. These regulations will apply to all grid-connected regional entities and those involved in inter-state electricity trade.
CERC Finalizes Tariff for Renewable Energy Projects From July 1, 2024 To March 31, 2025
The Commission has maintained the proposed bagasse fuel prices for the first year of the control period for bagasse-based cogeneration plants. Additionally, the final levellized generic tariff for Renewable Energy (RE) projects has been determined for various projects and for different states of the country.
New Regulations to Ensure Power Grid Stability
The primary goal of these regulations is to discourage deviations from the power schedule, which can lead to grid instability. To achieve this, a commercial mechanism will be implemented to penalize such deviations. All grid-connected entities, including power generators, distributors, and traders, will be subject to these new rules.

Under the new rules, entities seeking grid access will need to register with the respective Regional Load Despatch Centre (RLDC) or National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC). A registration fee will be applicable for this process.
Proposed Changes to Power Grid Connectivity Regulations Under Public Review
The draft regulations aim to further streamline the process of connecting to the national power grid for various entities. This includes changes in withdrawal of applications for connectivity or General Network Access (GNA) and treatment of bank guarantees, minimum capacity requirements, Grant of Connectivity to Renewable Energy Generating Stations (REGS) seeking to get connected to transmission network of Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) or other aspects of grid access.
Public Hearing To Discuss Changes To Electricity Grid Code
The CERC has decided to hold a public hearing to discuss the draft of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Indian Electricity Grid Code) (First Amendment) Regulations, 2024. This public hearing will be held on August 14, 2024 by video conferencing. The deadline for registering participants to the public hearing is August 12, 2024.
CERC Extends Deadline for Comments on Revised Coal Plant Emission Control Compensation Mechanism
CERC has invited stakeholders to submit comments and suggestions on the proposed revisions by August 4, 2024. The deadline has been extended from the previously announced date of July 24, 2024.
New Regulations for Fees and Charges of Regional Load Despatch Centres
The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has issued new regulations governing fees and charges levied by Regional Load Despatch Centres (RLDCs) in India.
