Streamlining Member Profile Updates in EPFO: New SOP Guidelines

The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has introduced a revised Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Joint Declarations aimed at updating member profiles. This version 3.0 emphasizes thorough due diligence to prevent impersonation and identity theft during requests for profile corrections. This notification was published on July 31, 2024.

The SOP addresses discrepancies in member data, often stemming from outdated paper processes and changes in employment. By enabling a structured Joint Declaration process, it facilitates easier corrections for parameters such as name, gender, date of birth, and more.

Field offices are required to review applications in a timely manner, ensuring the authenticity of member information while minimizing the risk of fraud. A flowchart outlining the procedure and a proposal for online tracking of applications will enhance transparency for members. These updates aim to create a more efficient and secure system for managing member profiles within EPFO.
