State Government of Tamil Nadu announces 12-day strict lockdown in Chennai and its neighboring places

The State Government of Tamil Nadu in its press release dated 15th June 2020 has declared an “intense lockdown” in four districts, including Chennai, for 12 days from 19th June till 30th June to curb the surge in Covid cases.

During the 12-day lockdown period, all state and central government offices will function with 33% staff. Banks, which come under essential services and were exempted in the nationwide lockdown, will also function with 33% staff. 

Further, complete lockdowns on two Sundays (June 21 and 28) are imposed where only milk supply, hospitals, pharmacies, ambulance services, emergency and funeral hearse vans, and private vehicles used for medical emergencies, are allowed.
