State Government of Odisha publishes draft Draft Orrisa Electronics Policy 2020.

The Orrisa Electronics and Information Technology Department has introduced draft Orrisa Electronics Policy, 2020 to stimulate the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing(ESDM) industry.

The Odisha Electronics Policy 2020 sets out the framework for the Electronics sector in the state and lists the incentives which would be available to all eligible units setting up base in Odisha. This will lead to spurt in growth of establishment of ESDM units in the state leading to rise in creation of employment opportunities thus contributing to growth and development of the state. This Policy will come into force from the date of notification of the Electronics Policy 2020. This policy will remain in force until March 31, 2025 or till substituted by another policy.

Key Highlights from the policy:

The policy aims to create an investor-friendly climate in the State for increasing Odisha’s share Electronics sector in India by 2025 and to create a world class ESDM eco-system in the state for enhancing competitiveness and productivity.

The Object of the policy is to triple the direct and indirect employment in the Electronics industry in Odisha and to double the investment in the ESDM sector in the state.

Further doubts relating to the interpretation of any term and/or dispute relating to the operation of any provision under this policy will have to be referred to the E&IT Department, Government of Odisha for clarification/resolution and the decision of the Government in this regard will be final and binding on all concerned.

Execution of various provisions covering the incentives, concessions, etc. will be subject to the issue of detailed guidelines/statutory notifications, wherever necessary in respect of each item by the concerned Department.
