SOP For +F Endorsement Certificate Revised

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a revised Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for applying for the “+F” endorsement certificate for fortified food products.

The FSSAI previously issued an SOP dated April 12, 2021 for applying for the “+F” endorsement in the Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS). This endorsement signifies a processed food product is fortified with specific nutrients.

Clarification on Fortified Products

To address any confusion about which products can be fortified, the FSSAI has created a specific list of approved products in FoSCoS.

This list defines which processed food products can be legally fortified under the Food Safety and Standards (Fortification of Food) Regulations 2018 and the 2020 amendments.

Applying for +F Endorsement

Food businesses can now apply for the “+F” endorsement through FoSCoS using the identified product list. A user manual for the application process is available on the FoSCoS website.

This revised SOP and product list aim to provide clarity for food businesses regarding fortification regulations. This helps ensure compliance and protects consumers from misleading claims about fortified products.
