The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) vide notification dated August 23, 2022 has simplified the procedure for compounding offenses under the Customs Act, 1962. CBIC has directed the Chief/Chief Commissioners to undertake periodical comprehensive and targeted outreach programs for conveying the benefits of compounding provisions .
It is further clarified that the satisfaction of compounding authority has been limited only to verify and be satisfied that the full and true disclosure of facts has been made by the applicant.
