The Maharashtra Government has issued a notification under the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits, and Services) Act, 2016, mandating Aadhaar as an identity document for farmers seeking financial aid under the “Financial Assistance to Cotton and Soybean Producers in Kharip 2023” scheme. This initiative aims to simplify government processes, enhance transparency, and ensure direct benefits to eligible farmers. Farmers must either possess an Aadhaar number or enroll before registering for the scheme. In cases of authentication failures, alternative methods such as the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) scan or OTP will be employed to ensure no eligible farmer is deprived of benefits.
