The Central Government has issued a notification appointing the State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority and State Level Expert Appraisal Committee for Sikkim. This notification was issued on 25th August, 2023.
This State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority consists of a Chairman, Member and Member-Secretary.
The State Level Expert Appraisal Committee consists of a Chairman, 4 Members and a Member-Secretary. The Committee shall function on the principle of collective responsibility and the Chairman shall endeavour to reach consensus in each case, and if they fail to reach consensus, the view of the majority shall prevail
The Chairman and Members of the both, the Authority and the Committee, shall hold office for a period of three years.
The State Government of Sikkim shall specify an agency to act as secretariat of the Authority and the
Committee.
