In a significant stride towards promoting education and equal opportunities, the Chhattisgarh-based Coal India subsidiary, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), has announced a groundbreaking initiative called “SECL ke Sushrut.” Under this corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, SECL will provide free residential medical coaching to students of Class 12th, aiming to assist them in preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
The “SECL ke Sushrut” initiative is set to benefit students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly in the villages situated within the coal belt areas of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
To select eligible students for this unique coaching program, SECL will conduct a competitive exam, modeled after the NEET pattern. The coaching program will accommodate a total batch of 35 students and will be conducted in collaboration with a private coaching institute based in Bilaspur. The program will be fully residential, providing students with lodging and boarding facilities, regular national-level test series, and valuable mentoring.

To be eligible for this coaching opportunity, students must have passed Class 12th in 2023 with a minimum of 60% marks. Additionally, applicants must be domiciled in Madhya Pradesh or Chhattisgarh and either reside within or have their school located within a 25-kilometer radius of SECL establishments in the operating districts of Korba, Raigarh, Koriya, Surguja, Surajpur, Balrampur, and Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur districts in Chhattisgarh, as well as Umaria, Annuppur, and Shahdol districts in Madhya Pradesh.
Furthermore, the gross income of the applicant’s parents or guardians should not exceed ₹8,00,000 per annum. Proof of income, such as an Income Certificate from the appropriate government authority, Income Tax Return of Parents, or the ward’s name registered in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) Card or Antyodaya Anna Yojana Card, will be required during the admission process.
In line with the Ministry of Coal’s policy, a reservation system will also be implemented. This will entail reserving 14% of the seats for SC (Scheduled Castes), 23% for ST (Scheduled Tribes), and 13% for OBC (Other Backward Classes) candidates..
