SEBI extends the time for holding Annual General meeting by top 100 listed entities by market capitalization.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India vide its notification dated 23rd July 2021 has decided to extend the timeline for conducting AGM by top-100 listed entities by market capitalization. The entities shall hold their AGM within a period of six months from the date of closing of the financial year for 2020-21.

As per regulation 44(5), the top 100 listed entities by market capitalization,  determined as on  March  31st  of every financial year, shall hold their annual general meetings within a period of five months from the date of closing of the financial year.

However based on the receipt of representations from listed entities and the  Institute of Company Secretaries of  India  (ICSI)  requesting an extension of time, SEBI has extended the timelimit for holding the AGM.
