SEBI directs stock exchanges to review commodity derivatives contracts performance on annual basis.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India in its Circular dated 4th February, 2020  has directed commodity exchanges to conduct a performance review of all commodity derivative contracts on annual basis for each financial year and disclose it by June 30 of the following financial year to SEBI and the public.

The commodity exchanges shall furnish a balance sheet of all commodities including volume and open interest, along with trading on their platforms. They shall also provide the list of 10 major producing and consuming countries. The said performance review along with the methodology adopted in evaluation, if any, shall be disclosed by the stock exchanges on their websites prominently.

The circular shall be effective from 1st April 2020. The stock exchanges shall be required to undertake and disclose performance review of all contracts traded on their exchange from FY 2019-20.
