The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has notified the Safety Glass (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023. This notification was issued on 24th March, 2023 and comes into force from 27th March, 2023.
The notification seeks to amend the Safety Glass (Quality Control) Order, 2020.
The amendment order states that the Safety Glass (Quality Control) Order, 2020 shall not apply to the following activities:
- import of safety glass by a vehicle manufacturer for manufacturing up to ten thousand vehicles manufactured in India per financial year,
- import of up to 5,000 number of safety glass per financial year for the purpose of repairs or after sales service of vehicles.
