Revisions in rates of Securities Transaction Tax

The National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE) has issued circular on revisions in rates of Securities Transaction Tax (STT). This circular was issued on 1st April, 2023.

The circular states that the Finance Act, 2023 has revised the rate of levy of STT as under:-

• Sale of an option in securities has been revised to 0.0625% (upto March 31, 2023 – 0.05%) and
• Sale of a futures in securities has been revised to 0.0125% (upto March 31, 2023 – 0.01%).

This revision has come into effect from 1st day of April, 2023.
