The Government of Bihar on September 30,2024 announced revised minimum wage rates set to take effect from October 1, 2024. This important update aims to ensure fair compensation across various sectors, particularly in industries that contribute significantly to the state’s economy.
Bihar recognizes a total of 69 employment categories under General Work, spanning diverse industries. Few of These industries include:
- Co-operative Sector
- Aluminum Industry
- Khansari Industry
- Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry
- Soap Making Industry
- Cement Pre-stressed Product Industry
- Asbestos Cement Industry
Minimum Wage Rates
The revised minimum wage rates are categorized based on skill levels.

Key Provisions
- No Reduction in Wages: Even if the Consumer Price Index falls below the established point, the minimum wages will not be reduced.
- Variable Dearness Allowance: The payment of variable DA will be based on the average CPI for January to June 2024. Adjustments will be made every six months, with changes applicable three months after the review period.
