The Directorate General of Foreign Trade through circular dated 9 September, 2021 has revised the import policy of mercury from free to restricted subject to prior informed consent from MoEF & CC. Details of the procedure to obtain prior informed consent can be obtained from the official website of MoEF & CC.
The import and export of mercury shall be subject to prior informed consent of national focal point of Minamata Convention.
