Revised Dearness Allowance for Security Guards in Maharashtra

Effective from July 1, 2024, the Labor Commissioner, Mumbai, has mandated an updated dearness allowance (DA) for security guards across Maharashtra, including Kolhapur and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar districts. As per the revised regulations, security guards will receive a 42% increase on the minimum wage, along with a 3.25% hike on house rent, traveling, additional work, and educational allowances. This adjustment, influenced by the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, will be effective until December 31, 2024. This notification was published on 06/08/2024.

Additionally, the Maharashtra Private Security Guards (Regulation and Welfare of Employment) Scheme, 2002, governs the wage structure for exempted security personnel. Employers must ensure the revised rates are paid promptly, including a special allowance of Rs. 3,250 per month. Compliance with these revisions is mandatory, ensuring fair compensation and protection for security personnel across the state.
