Rajasthan Government’s Initiative for By-elections

In a bid to facilitate widespread participation in the upcoming by-elections across Rajasthan, the state government has taken a proactive step. According to recent notifications from the State Election Commission, polling is scheduled for June 30, 2024, in various urban bodies across ten districts of the state. This notification was published on June 18, 2024.

To ensure maximum voter turnout on Election Day, the Governor of Rajasthan has invoked the provisions under the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881. Pursuant to Notification No. 20/25/56 Post/1 dated June 8, 1957, issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, all offices located within the polling areas will observe a holiday. This decision aims to grant employees the necessary time to exercise their voting rights without any hindrance.

By declaring a holiday on this crucial day, the government underscores its commitment to fostering a participatory democracy where every eligible citizen can contribute to the electoral process. This move not only encourages civic engagement but also upholds the democratic ideals that form the cornerstone of our nation.
