Public Input Sought on Guidelines for PM-Surya Ghar Yojana’s Payment and Financial Assistance

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is seeking comments and suggestions from stakeholders on the draft guidelines for two key components of the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. These draft guidelines were published on September 7, 2024.

It may be recalled that the PM-Surya Ghar Yojana was launched in February 2024. The scheme aims to install rooftop solar power plants in one crore Indian households. It has a total financial outlay of Rs. 75,021 crore.

Now by the present notice the MNRE has requested the general public to furnish comments on its draft guidelines on the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.

Draft Guidelines

The MNRE is inviting public feedback on the draft guidelines for the following components of the scheme:

  • Payment Security Mechanism:

This component aims to ensure timely payments from DISCOMs (Electricity Distribution Companies) to solar power developers under the RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company) and Utility Led Aggregation models.

  • Central Financial Assistance:

This component outlines the process and criteria for providing financial assistance from the central government to encourage rooftop solar installations.

Stakeholders are encouraged to submit their comments and suggestions on the draft guidelines by September 17, 2024.
