Public Hearing To Discuss Changes To Electricity Grid Code

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) is inviting public participation in a hearing on proposed amendments to the Indian Electricity Grid Code.  A public notice with this invitation was issued on July 31, 2024.

It may be recalled that CERC had released a draft of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Indian Electricity Grid Code) (First Amendment) Regulations, 2024 in June 12, 2024. The draft outlines changes to the existing grid code governing the operation of India’s electricity grid. The deadline for submitting comments on this draft had been fixed for July 15, 2024.

The CERC has decided to hold a public hearing to discuss this draft amendment regulations. The details of this hearing are as follows:

  • Submit presentations electronically by August 12, 2024.

The CERC encourages active participation from stakeholders to ensure the proposed amendments are fair and beneficial to all parties involved in the electricity sector.

This public hearing provides an opportunity for citizens, organizations, and experts to voice their concerns, suggestions, and recommendations regarding the proposed changes to the grid code. Their input will be considered by the CERC before finalizing the amendments.
