The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) is inviting public participation in a hearing on proposed new regulations for fees and charges associated with Regional Load Despatch Centres (RLDCs). A public notice on this hearing was issued on May 26, 2024.
The CERC released draft regulations on April 4, 2024, outlining a new framework for calculating and collecting fees used to operate RLDCs. These centers play a vital role in managing electricity supply and demand across India’s power grid.
Public Input Sought
The public comment period ended on May 20, 2024. However, in order to gather diverse perspectives, the CERC will hold a public hearing on May 30, 2024, at 2:30 PM via video conferencing.
The CERC welcomes representatives from various organizations, including:
- Central and State Governments
- Load Despatch Centers
- State Utilities
- Power Trading Companies
- Transmission Licensees
- Individual Experts
- Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)
- Independent Power Producers (IPPs)
- Financial Institutions
- Consultancy Firms
Organizations interested in attending the hearing must register by May 28, 2024, by informing the CERC of the participants’ names.
Organizations can also submit presentations (limited to 5-10 minutes and 8-10 slides) by email in advance.
