The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change vide notice dated 30 June, 2022 has published a proposal for amendment of Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 for inviting comments and suggestions from public and stakeholders. The proposed amendment seeks decriminalization of contraventions to eliminate imprisonment for violation of provisions under the act and thereby reduce compliance burden for stakeholders and facilitate ease of doing business.
Comments and suggestions shall be mailed to cpwater-comments-mef.@gov.in within 21st July 2022.
