The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) has introduced new regulations on Pre-Ayurveda-Programme for Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. These regulations were published on October 28, 2024.
These regulations aim to standardize the curriculum and infrastructure of Ayurveda institutions, ensuring the delivery of high-quality Ayurvedic education and training.
Key Features of the New Regulations
The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) program will be a seven-and-a-half-year course, including a two-year pre-Ayurveda program.
The institutions will follow the Gurukulam model, focusing on traditional values and holistic education. All Ayurveda Gurukulams will be affiliated with the Central Sanskrit University. The number of Gurukulams will be determined based on population and regional needs.
Gurukulams will be equipped with modern technologies like Learning Management Systems and biometric attendance systems to ensure transparency and efficiency.
Ayushman Bharat Health Account numbers will be used for patient authentication. The physical infrastructure of Gurukulams will adhere to green building principles.
These regulations are expected to revolutionize Ayurvedic education in India, ensuring that future Ayurvedic practitioners are well-equipped to provide quality healthcare services.
